The Irishman hadn’t been seen for a couple of days. This wasn’t unusual, as he would occasionally disappear on drunks with some of the tribesmen he worked with on the construction site. The Irishman is not for you. This is a movie made for adults, with an attention span longer than a ticktock video, and who are able to enjoy story, character development, and long (often extended) scenes designed to set mood and to drive the story. Consider it a very long novel using multisyllabic words and complex sentences compared to Hop on Pop. The Irishman is another outstanding cinematic accomplishment from Scorsese, featuring a talented cast and crew firing on all cylinders. Legendary director Martin Scorsese spent a long time developing crime epic The Irishman; talk of the director reuniting with his old muse Robert De Niro for the project was happening as far back as 2010. In The Irishman's action scenes, I couldn't help feeling it's been 15 or 20 years since De Niro could pull off that kind of physicality. This isn't a criticism of De Niro or Pacino's acting.
